SSI/SSP Recipients Can Be Eligible for CalFresh in Summer 2019
In the summer of 2019, the ‘cash-out’ policy that bans SSI recipients from receiving food stamps (CalFresh) will end. People who receive SSI will be able to also receive CalFresh at the same time.
To ensure that the change does not harm or reduce the food benefits of any SSI/SSP recipient, the state will screen households that lose CalFresh benefits as a result of this change and those households will receive state funded food benefits.

The California Department of Social Services, the state agency that administers the CalFresh program, has set up a webpage on implementation of this policy change. You can also contact the Department of Social Services by email.
